Our available activities:

  • Join study courses/sessions to learn about the brain and prepare for the USA Brain Bee national competition
  • Join our Cognitive Science/Neuroscience lecture series
  • Join our scientific journal club
  • Join groups to write a scientific review article on Cognitive Science to publish in a high school journal
    • Join to be an author
    • Advanced students join as group leader to be a mentor / lead author
  • Be a leader in our nonprofit
    • Start a club at your school
    • Adopt a School with lessor resources to mentor students
    • Contribute new activities and learning resources for other to benefit from

Apply to Start Your Own Club

  • Start Your Own High School Cognitive Science / Neuroscience Club at your own U.S. high school using our resources
  • Enter your member email in the form to the right to access the application to start your own club
  • We will evaluate your application and likely contact you for an interview - Acceptance is competitive
  • We'll email you a set of guidelines and terms and conditions. 
  • and accept your video idea potentially with some suggestions
  • You must be at least a rising 10th grader in your school to apply

Write a guest blog for NeuroBeacon

Sign up to to write a review article 

  • Work in small groups to write a review article for a high school or college research journal. Topics in the Cognitive Science / Neuroscience domain, including topics involving molecular biology
    • Be a contributing author in a group
    • For advanced students, be a group leader and lead the small author group mentoring other students (Juniors and Seniors)
  • Prerequisite is participation in journal club and/or comparable experience 
  • Sign up and we'll add you to this activity once we start up in August/September 
  • Get access to a full resource kit once you sign up

Work in a group to write a research review article 

This is a great first step into the world of research!

We will add you to this group and contact you regarding logistical details and responsibilities

Join "Adopt-a-School" Program

  • This program is "under construction"
  • The idea is that students can volunteer to help educate students at less resourced schools 
  • If you are interested please submit your member email in the form at right and we will contact you once we are launching or meeting about this program

2) Use our resources to found a Cognitive Science Club at your own high school

3) "Adopt a School" and teach/volunteer at a less highly resourced school than your own

 

Teach to those less privileged:

  • Identify a local school with lesser resources than your own and teach introductory courses about the brain
  • Raise funds to perform brain anatomy learning via sheep brain dissections

4) Columbia ACComPLISHED Program Student Capstones

 

Support the mission of the Columbia ACComPLISHED Health Literacy Program:

  • Perform an intervention to promote health literacy in communities with less access to such educational resources 
  • Raise awareness about a health crisis among a larger population 
  • Reduce stigma surrounding various health conditions
